Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart GameplayReview

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Into the Dark of Squirrels is a side-scrolling, action-adventure game based on the famous arcade game series. The story of the game revolves around a pair of teenage brothers who crash land on an island and are stranded. There, they discover that there are a whole lot of rats in the game and need to help save the rest of the players by shooting down as much as possible. Although the story is rather standard, the Ratchet and Clank Rise edition brings the game to the next level.

Ratchet and Clank

The vital thing you’ll notice concerning this Ratchet and Clank is that it is been made to be visually stunning. There are plenty of bright colors in the backgrounds and the environments are wonderfully illustrated. Everything appears like it’s been modeled in 3D, which really really helps to enhance the vertigo-inducing effects. The environments in the overall game look pretty detailed, but haven’t any real detail. There is no vegetation, for example, so that you can expect to find plenty of tree-studded areas where you’ll have to take cover and shoot at enemies.

Shooting feels quite natural, too. Characters run and gun with a mouse, just like how you’d play the overall game. There’s no sensitivity necessary to aim the weapon, so your character will be much more responsive than you’ll expect. Unfortunately, the trigger for the gun can sometimes be fickle, which can result in some very frustrating moments once you aren’t sure in the event that you hit your target or not. Fortunately, there is an auto-fire button in underneath right-hand corner of the screen that will help maintain a consistent firing rhythm.

You can hop from platform to platform throughout your adventure. Although it can look like you’re moving via an entirely different game, you truly are. Platforming feels satisfying and adds an interesting element to the game. It’s also quite fun, although the tutorial certainly might use improvement.

The enemies you’ll battle in this game are, well, ratty. They’re sluggish and funny-looking, and the ragdolling motion they go through as they advance makes them look like they’ve been thrown in to the middle of a gaming. They range between two-legged creatures, to angry birds, to big, red worms. They’re not exactly the most visually appealing enemies, however they make up for it making use of their poor aim and general incompetence.

Overall, the enemies in Ratchet and Clank: rift is rather varied, although they do tend to cluster around one area. A few of these enemies are highly damaging, while some are weak. It’s a good plan to think about which character you need to take down first; the more powerful enemies will probably cause more damage in a shorter period of time. For example, when an enemy is grouped together and you also quickly attack its back, it’s more likely to be finished faster than in the event that you attack it from the medial side or front.

Since you only have a limited period of time to play each level in this 3D game, you’ll need to be able to conserve your energy. Unfortunately, because you only have a few seconds to perform attacks on an enemy before it moves away, you’ll have to play it smart. Always be ready to perform a quick attack if an enemy gets in your area or its spot in the surroundings. This way, you’ll be able to kill it before it can move on to the next location to attack you again.

Playing Ratchet and Clank: rift is both enjoyable and fun. It’s challenging, it’s funny, and it has a solid concept that means it is not the same as other similar games. In the event that you enjoy playing games that want good time management skills, then you will probably love playing that one. It’s not perfect, but it’s still a very enjoyable game to play. Invest some time, focus on the environment, and utilize all of the time management techniques you learn to function as best player possible.
